Christmas is only around the corner, is your home ready for entertaining?

Since Christmas is just around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect time to share my tips and tricks for getting your home ready for the holidays.

1. Stock the kitchen

There will always be last-minute entertaining during the festive season. Adding a few extra items to your weekly shopping in the weeks leading up to Christmas will allow you to have plenty of food for those last-minute drop-ins without breaking the bank.

2. Declutter & dispose

Clearing out old, broken, and unused items gives me a clean slate and a fresh perspective. If you have kids, don't forget to clear out any items you don't need before the onslaught of Christmas gifts arrives.

3. Get the spare room ready for guests

Prepare the spare room for any visiting family. Fresh sheets on the bed, light dusting, and a vacuum should do the trick. You could consider adding some soft furnishings and a basket of toiletries for that extra special touch.

4. Give your garden some love

Outdoor entertaining is the norm for most Aussies during the summer months. Give everything a good watering, pull out weeds, sweep the driveway and mow the lawn. Make sure you don't forget the outdoor decorations... who doesn't love some fairy lights?

5. Stock up on supplies

In case you are expecting guests over the festive season, now is a good time to iron any tablecloths, make sure you have enough glasses, prepare the good dinner set and make sure you have any other entertaining supplies.

6. Don’t forget to decorate!

Is this even necessary to include on the list? I think this is a no-brainer... there's no need to make your home look like Santa's workshop. You can bring in a festive flair with a few simple pieces...

· Couch pillows with a Christmas theme

· Scented candles in your entryway and main living area

· A native Christmas wreath on your front door

· .... more fairy lights

· And don’t forget to put up your Christmas tree!
